Thank You for an Exceptional Year—We Are Excited for What’s Ahead
As the year draws to a close, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the remarkable community of art, culture, and connoisseurship that surrounds Thomaston Place Auction Galleries.
2025 was an exceptional year, made possible only through the trust and passion of our buyers, sellers, colleagues, and friends. Your continued support is the foundation of our success, and we are deeply thankful for the confidence you place in us.
This year marked the launch of our new podcast, Auction Waves, hosted by radio veteran Elizabeth McLeod, which has been met with an enthusiastic response. The series welcomed an impressive lineup of distinguished guests, including high-fidelity music authority Michael Fremer; Japanese print expert David Kutcher; Dr. Susan Danly in a compelling discussion on the art and legacy of James Fitzgerald; Dan O’Leary, former director of the Portland Museum of Art; noted historian, lecturer, and dealer Peter Eaton on the history of American country furniture; horology specialist Peter Rioux; vexillology expert James Ferrigan; and many other engaging voices from across the art and collecting world.
We invite you to explore the podcast archive and listen to our latest 2025 Year in Review episode.
We were also especially honored this past year to work with several distinguished estates, including those of Brook Astor, Herb Belkin, Doris Buffett, Jean and Larry Dubord, and others. Representing these estates and lifetime collections enriched our auctions and reaffirmed our commitment to presenting—and preserving—objects of significance, history, and legacy for future generations.
We also continued our longstanding privilege of working with artists whose legacies are deeply connected to Maine. Highlights included exceptional Maine art by revered masters such as all three generations of the Wyeth family, James Fitzgerald, Lynne Drexler, Dahlov Ipcar, Imero Gobbato, and William Thon—along with many others too numerous to list. These works resonated deeply with collectors and celebrated the region’s rich heritage and enduring importance in the art world.
Beyond New England, we were proud to present and achieve notable success with works by leading American artists including Andy Warhol, Alexander Calder, Frank Stella, Helen Frankenthaler, and David Hockney, as well as internationally renowned artists such as Ram Kumar of India and Rory McEwen of Scotland. Together, these results underscore the global reach of our auctions and our ongoing commitment to diverse artistic voices and an international perspective.
