ATTENTION: Free Appraisal Day will be canceled on April 28th. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you join us when we recommence Free Appraisal Day the following Tuesday, May 5th.
Join us as a pioneering Maine tradition celebrates its golden anniversary. Founded in 1976, Free Appraisal Day has become a defining part of Thomaston Place legacy as the institution marks its 50th anniversary in 2026.
Half a century ago, company founder Kaja Veilleux introduced Free Appraisal Day at Newcastle Square in Maine—well before programs like Antiques Roadshow captured the public imagination (the original UK series premiered in 1979, followed by the American version in 1997). Today, this beloved tradition continues every Tuesday at Thomaston Place Auction Galleries, welcoming the public to bring any object for a complimentary fair market evaluation.
