Auction Items for: August 21, 2010

AUCTIONEERS NOTE:
Our most important auction of the year is now even larger than before. We had to add a third day to include all of the fabulous items we’ve discovered throughout Maine this year. Be here for what promises to be Maine’s most important Auction Event of the season. As always, Day One features extraordinary art including paintings by Gilbert Stuart, Derek Gardiner, Edward Henry, Lucas Cranach, Frederick Waugh, Charles Eaton, Antonio Jacobsen and Percy Sanborn. 15th & 16th c. Gilt-Wood Figures, a 16th c. Flemish Reliquary and a 16th c. Japanese Bronze Crane begins to list the antiquities being offered. Fine period furniture includes five 18th c. slant lid desks, a Chippendale chest on chest, a William & Mary highboy, plus dressing tables, stands, dressers and more. Marine equipment includes a stern board, ship models, ivory, harpoons, and clocks. The vast selection of important early Oriental objects includes a collection of Chinese Ink Cakes and rare Chinese Figurines. Also featured on this day are early porcelain and silver, Presidential documents, Native American artifacts, antique carpets, clocks and folk art.
